Stuttgart, Germany/Palo Alto, California: As of January 1, 2011, Dr. Jasper zu Putlitz (47) will be assuming the position of president of Robert Bosch Healthcare, Inc., a Bosch subsidiary headquartered in Palo Alto, California. Zu Putlitz's predecessor, Derek Newell, has chosen to leave Bosch Healthcare at the end of 2010. Bosch, a supplier of technology and services, sees telemedicine as a strategic business field that should be expanded in light of demographic change.

Zu Putlitz: a medical doctor with international experience
Zu Putlitz was born in Heidelberg, Germany. He worked for the consulting firm McKinsey as a partner and a member of the German management for the past five years. There, zu Putlitz was responsible for key areas, with a focus on health and logistics, as well as human resources and organization. Before he began consulting work in 1999, zu Putlitz, who has an MD degree, spent seven years working as a doctor at the Munich, Zurich, Freiburg, and Harvard university hospitals.

"We are very pleased to welcome Dr. zu Putlitz to our company. He brings with him expertise both as a healthcare specialist with international experience, and as a corporate-strategy and process-optimization professional,” said Dr. Siegfried Dais, the deputy chairman of the Bosch board of management whose responsibilities include the growth areas innovative software systems, photovoltaics, and healthcare. Dais thanked Derek Newell for the major contribution he had made to ensuring positive business developments at Robert Bosch Healthcare, Inc.

Looking ahead to his new position, zu Putlitz said: "Telemedicine will increasingly shape healthcare in the future. I greatly look forward to collaborating with the healthcare team to take advantage of the potential for growth in this sector. In this way, we can give an added boost to the Bosch Group’s strategy of focused diversification."
